The 165m high core was Slipformed over a 14 week period, working on a day shift only basis. A total of 7700 m3 of concrete was placed into the walls via a placing boom mounted on top of the Slipform rig.

The average daily rate of slide was 2.54m with a maximum rate of 3.2m being achieved. The specially engineered Slipform rig not only carried the dynamic loads from the placing boom, but included sufficient capacity to allow the storage of up to 100 tons of materials and plant. The core walls were successfully completed within the very tight tolerances required by Canary
Wharf Contractors.
